Flushing Queens, Botanical Garden
Summer of 2012 for me is about travelling and exploring new places. Every place I go I enjoy learning new things and experiencing the local beauty. While visiting my step-daughter and her husband in Flushing Queens, I was able to spend a few hours in the Botanical Garden a couple of blocks away from their apartment. This neighborhood is swarming with Asian Markets and fruit vendors line every street. Their are shoppers and people carrying umbrella's to block out the summer sun. The day we visited was at least 90* and we walked about 7 city blocks to take the #7 train to Manhattan. Sadly I did not get any pictures of us on 42nd street, but I did get some nice photos of this serene garden, snuggled in the midst of thie bustling city.
Ok, so this pinkish lovely above...doesn't she look like she is wearing the leaf in her hair??? LOL....
With the brighness of the sun, I had great difficulty capturing the beauty of the flowers. This photo came out good though.
The grounds also had a large walking path and a Wedding area. Many of the Asian community come to the Garden to perform Tai Chi and we saw them doing so in various places both alone and in small groups.
Throughout the spacious grounds there are benches with carvings.
The garden entrance fee is $4.00 ($2.00 for kids). I highly recommend it if you are visiting Queens!
